Sherri McDermott, Vice President of Human Resources for Sentry Equipment Corp, has been named the 2009 Employee Owner of the Year by the Wisconsin Chapter of The ESOP Association. The award was presented today at the Chapter’s Half Day Conference held in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The ESOP Association is the national trade association for companies with employee stock ownership plans (ESOP) and the leading voice in America for employee ownership. The Wisconsin Chapter represents 36 ESOP Association members in Wisconsin.
Ms. McDermott joined Sentry Equipment Corp in 1985 and quickly became involved with the company’sESOP. From the beginning, she has been highly involved in the administration of the company’s ESOP and was instrumental in starting the company’s ESOP Communications Committee, known as SOCC (Sentry Ownership Communication Council). She continues to serve on the SOCC committee today, and is a mentor to many at the company.
Based in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Sentry Equipment Corp is a 100% employee owned companyspecializing in sampling and heat transfer equipment. Sentry established its ESOP in 1985.“Sherri is the perfect example of an employee owner who has taken the concept of employee ownership and run with it,” said J. Michael Keeling, President of The ESOP Association. “She plays an active role in the Wisconsin Chapter and in the ESOP community at large, and is true a mentor to many employee owners in her company. I am pleased to present her with this recognition for all the work she has done to promote employee ownership.”
Ms. McDermott will compete against a competitive field of employee owners from The ESOP Association’s 18 other state and regional Chapters for the title “National Employee Owner of the Year.” The winner of this prestigious award will be announced at The ESOP Association’s 31st Annual Conference in Washington, DC in May 2009.
